PLEASE DON’T WAIT AROUND (©Words and music by Paul F. Cowlan)

Easier said than done of course but, in principle, a dignified retreat is always best.

Please don't wait around to tell me that you love me.
Please don’t feel you have to stay to tell me that you care.
If we have to lose, let’s not make things any harder.
Let’s just turn around one day and find nobody there.

You tell me that you want me, you tell me that you need me,
you tell me that you love me, never going to let me go.
But I leave you in the morning and I come to see you in the evening,
you treat me like a stranger you don’t even want to know.

I’ve given everything I have. Believe me when I tell you that
I’ve lost my pride, and tried to hide it every way I know.
But walking on your highway is like walking in the darkness,
and walking to your heart is like walking in the snow.

So please don't wait around to tell me that you love me.
Please don’t feel you have to stay to tell me that you care.
If you have to leave, please don’t make things any harder.
Let me turn around one day and find nobody there.
