BREAK-UP (© Words and music by Paul F. Cowlan )

Another oldie, golden or otherwise, dating right back to 1974.

Now the games are over
we both know that something has to change.
You can see for yourself, there’s no-one else,
ours are the lives we have to rearrange.

And what you choose to do,
that, of course, is up to you,
you’re the one that has to see it through.

You say that there’s no need
to sacrifice a friendship,
friends are rare, and you couldn’t bear
to make the mistake of losing another one.

Well, I won’t argue,
but I think you’ll find that what is gone, is gone.

You see things a different way.
I know the kind of games you’ll play;
pretending it’s still yesterday
and keeping just as distant as before.
There’s no need to do that any more.

Can’t you let the morning
open up a new day in your mind;
catch the sunlight as it falls,
and leave the clouds of yesterday behind?

But what you choose to do,
that, of course, is up to you,
you’re the one that has to see it through.
