RIPPLES   (©Words and Music by Paul F. Cowlan)

A chance to play some open-tunings and bottle-neck guitar. I don’t think this puts Ry Cooder’s reputation in any danger.

When the lights are low and time moves slow
it’s oh so easy to let go.
Making ripples on the water,
stirring up the sand.
Making ripples on the water,
ripples on the easy water.
Lazy ripples turning into waves.

I never meant to hurt no-one,
but I suppose that I must have done.
I kept thinking that I heard heartbeats,
when all I was really doing
was making ripples on the water,
ripples on the easy water.
Lazy ripples turning into waves.

I saw your shadow on my wall
as you were leaving, and that was all.
Did you have to be so secretive?
Or were you just afraid
of making ripples on the water,
ripples on the easy water,
lazy ripples turning into waves?

I’ve been told that angels can
understand where Time began;
but I’ve never met an angel.
I can’t even explain
making ripples on the water.
Ripples on the easy water.
Lazy ripples turning into waves.

Lazy ripples turning into waves.
