THE WORD (© Words and music by Paul F. Cowlan)

Wouldnít it be wonderful to possess a magic word which had the power of solving any problem, instantly? Iím sure I dreamed this word one night, but you know how it is with dreams. Now, if only I could remember .....

Thereís a word I heard in a dream
but now I donít recall.
A word to make your grass grow green,
make your trees grow tall.
If you say this word at the border
theyíre bound to let you through.
Your papers might not be in order,
but thereís nothing they can do.
Say this word to the taxman,
heíll give you all your money back.
Wonít ask about the facts and figures,
and he wonít keep track.

Itís The Word. Itís all you need
to get your life online.
If at first you donít succeed,
try it one more time.
Whispered to the inexpressive,
to the chaste and the fair,
results can be impressive.
Try it if you dare.
Shouted at the next door neighbours
when their loving gets too loud,
who knows, but they could maybe
decide that three donít make a crowd!

Itís the word that the angels use
when theyíre feeling down,
to chase away those little blue devils,
and make a smile from a frown.
Even if youíre stuck in traffic
youíve only got to say the word.
The road will clear, itís a graphic
way to get your problems heard.

Thatís the word I heard in a dream
but now I donít recall.
Still donít know what it means.
It makes no sense at all.
But I sleep with all the windows open,
one ear to the ground,
and all the while Iím hoping
that this lost word can be found.
The lost word can be found.
The lost word can be found.
